Proserve Alcohol Server Certification

Proserve is the Alberta Government certification, designed to inform you of all your legal responsibilities when serving alcohol. Anyone that serves alcohol in the province of Alberta must have Proserve.

After completing the Proserve program, your certificate is valid for 5 years. If you took the Proserve program more than 5 years ago, and you are still in the business of serving alcohol, you are required to take it again.

Most bar managers will ask you if you have completed the Proserve program when you apply for work at their establishment.

ProServe is mandatory under AGLC policy. Liquor Licensees who employ non-certified workers after January 1, 2010 can be issued a warning, a fine, license suspension, or license termination.
